2 drug suspects busted

CEBU, Philippines — Two high-value drug suspects were arrested in separate drug-bust operations Thursday, February 29, resulting in the confiscation of more than half a million pesos worth of illegal drugs.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) arrested Andre Cabardo Layaog, 25, in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.

Layaog, single and a resident of Sitio Magay, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City, was caught in possession of several packs of shabu weighing more or less 40 grams and has a total estimated market value of P272,000. Police operatives also recovered from his possession a genuine P500 bill, and 13 pieces of P1,000 fake money.

In another operation, elements of the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group arrested Bimbom Matas alias Ados, 35, in Sitio Arriola, Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City and seized from him 55 grams of suspected drugs with an estimated value of P374,000.

The two arrested individuals are currently detained while criminal complaints are being prepared for filing. (CEBU NEWS)
