Cops on full alert for Charter Day activities

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) was placed on full alert status as of 8 a.m. yesterday in line with security preparations for the upcoming Charter Day celebration and activities set for today.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, CCPO deputy director for operations, said that city police director Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog enforced full alert status following the recent happenings in the nearby areas.

“Based on the instructions of our city director, nag-full alert mi ka’y sumala sa atong mga coordination meeting, there will be people, there will be VIP’s coming, and then naa’y mga sumala mga panghitabo pud sa mga lain’g lugar nga di g’yud pud nato pwede’ng ma-discount diri sa ato’ng lugar simbako lang,” she said.

Apart from the prayer rally that will be held at the Kasadya Grounds at the South Road Properties, there will also be a Yukbo concert wherein several local bands will be playing at Plaza Independencia.

Rafter said that they will also be deploying enough security personnel for today’s activities to ensure a safe and secure celebration.

Apart from the security personnel from the CCPO, the Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) has also committed to providing personnel augmentation, Rafter told the media yesterday.

Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesman for PRO-7, also informed the media that police regional director, Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, has already given instructions to ensure that security preparations are in place. (CEBU NEWS)
