Grudge eyed in park attendant s murder

Adelyn Landiza - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The police are looking at grudge as the motive in the killing of 63-year-old car park attendant Juan Orde iza in Sitio Cabancalan 2, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City yesterday morning.

This, as one of the suspects in a shooting incident last Monday in Sitio Upper Tabucanal, Barangay Poblacion Pardo, Cebu City was arrested by Inayawan Police Station operatives at 1:10 a.m. also yesterday.

The man, Felix Ni o  Cielo  Alima, was caught in a buy-bust operation but was later identified during further investigation as also involved in the shooting incident, which left two persons wounded.

In the Bulacao incident, Police Major Jeciree Basitao of Inayawan Police Station said disagreement over parking fee collection may have cost Orde iza his life.

Based on our initial investigation karon, away lang ni. Mora g personal grudge ba. So mao nay atong gitan-aw nga anggulo karon,  she said.

Valentina, Orde iza s victim s sister who immediately went to the crime scene, said she was clueless as to who did the deed because she did not know of anyone with whom her brother had recently argued with. She said her brother was a kind man.

Wala man koy nahibaw-an nga naa ni siyay kontra. Buotan gyud kaayo. Buotan man na siya. Buotan. Sa akong nahibaw-an, buotan man na siya. Di man na manghilabot manapat nako,  an emotional Valentina told reporters.

Basitao, though, said that Orde iza, married with six children, and the suspect, who is already the subject of a manhunt operation, might have had an altercation on parking income.

A witness told The Freeman that a few moments before the incident, the victim was seen holding a bottle of beer on his way to a drinking spree.

The witness said Orde iza was walking when the perpetrator suddenly shot him twice in the back of the head.

The witness claimed that although the man was not wearing a mask, he did not recognize the person, who immediately fled after killing Orde iza.

Meanwhile, Basitao said that that they arrested Alima after receiving information about an illegal drug transaction in Upper Tabucanal, which prompted them to conduct the operation.

She said they arrested Alima, who is a  high-value target,  after he handed a pack of shabu to the police poseur buyer. In all, the police seized from Alima 10.28 grams of suspected shabu worth P69,904.

Successful ato ng buy-bust operation, nadakpan ang maong suspect, only to find out nga kaning suspect, a certain  Cielo,  mao pud diay ni ang suspect atong pagpamusil gahapon sa atong tomboy,  Basitao said.

She said they learned that Alima was actually the driver of the getaway motorcycle used by a certain Makmak in fleeing after the shooting incident in Upper Tabucanal.

Basitao said a hot pursuit operation against Makmak is ongoing. She asked him to just simply surrender to the authorities.

Two persons, including a 16-year-old who just tried to help, were hurt during the shooting incident. Both, though, are already in stable condition. (CEBU NEWS)
