Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Toong Integrated School has acquired a new building for the benefit of the schoolchildren of Barangay Toong and its nearby barangays in Cebu City.

The school building was formally turned over early this week.

It’s a three-story building with nine rooms worth around P25 million, the city’s Public Information Office reported.

School principal Gemma Amarillo and its teaching force thanked the city government for the support extended to their school with the new building expected to make the delivery of lessons to learners better.

During the turnover, Mayor Michael Rama asked everyone to help keep the school clean.

“Akong awhag na ampikan ni ninyo…Dili ko gustong makakitag eskwelahan nga naay guba..kay kanang guba, para ra na sa barangay Guba,” Rama said in jest.

Rama was also happy to see that there are emergency exits in the school buildings so that evacuation will be easier in case of emergency.

“Nalipay ko, nakakitag mga agianan..in case of emergency,” said Rama.

More to it, Rama assured continued support to the barangays, especially for the children, the future of Cebu City.

“Bahalag mahurot ang kwarta sa gobyerno, basta hayag ang Siyudad sa Sugbo…Bahalag mahurot ang kwarta sa gobyerno, basta mga eskwelahan giatiman,” said Rama.

After the completion of the new building, Toong barangay captain Alejandro Borres said they will start working on the improvements of their gym with a stage on it that can be utilized by the school children in their activities as well. — GMR (FREEMAN)
