Port Police Inspector Alyse Rosalejos identified the suspects as Tirso Abella Viodor, 37, an employee of the Cebu Integrated Arrastre, and Jonathan Apordo Gorre, 29, who also works as shipper at the port.

CEBU, Philippines — Two port workers were arrested by authorities Saturday night at Pier 6 for alleged possession of illegal drugs.

Port Police Inspector Alyse Rosalejos identified the suspects as Tirso Abella Viodor, 37, an employee of the Cebu Integrated Arrastre, and Jonathan Apordo Gorre, 29, who also works as shipper at the port.

Confiscated from them were sachets of suspected shabu with estimated value of  P6,800.

“Ang buyer ana, niari sa amoa kay ang kaning seller, trabahante sa arraste sa pier, nya stay-in, ang buyer trabahante sad siya sa shipper,” Rosalejos told reporters.

Rosalejos said the buyer, Viodor, personally went to Pier 6 at that time to buy illegal drugs from the seller, Gorre.

Viodor is a resident from Barangay Pardo in Cebu City, while Gorre is from Barangay Tinago.

However, Viodor was barred entry from the port by the security guard due to his lack of documents of entry. When Viodor chose to leave and walk away, the security guard reportedly followed him.

“Pagsunod jud nag tinulunay bitaw, pag tinulonay, nakuyawan tung usa, nahulog tung suspected na shabu, gidali-dalig punit,” Rosalejos said.

The security guard held both of the suspects. At present they were now detained at the CPA Facility as they face appropriate charges.

Rosalejos said this was the first time such illegal trading happened in the port. He added that the suspects also claimed that someone was just supplying them illegal drugs.  GAN (FREEMAN)
