Mandaue adds 2 more cases; zero in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines — Mandaue City recorded two more Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases while Lapu-Lapu City did not have any yesterday.
According to lawyer John Eddu Ibañez, head of Mandaue City Public Information Office, the two new cases bring to 19 the total count in the city.
So far, two recoveries and one fatality have been reported.
One of the two new cases was a 29-year-old inmate from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Mandaue City, which was supposed to be set for release but was ordered to undergo swabbing and quarantine. He is now at the isolation center.
Another patient is a two-year-old infant from Sitio Galleon, Barangay Cabancalan. The patient has been exposed to a relative from Barrio Luz, Cebu City.
Ibañez said the City Health Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office have already coordinated with the barangay concerned for disinfection and cordoning of the area involved.
Meanwhile, in Lapu-Lapu City, city disaster risk reduction chief Nagiel Banacia said that no new cases were reported at least yesterday.
The Department of Health-7 did not release an update on the number of cases yesterday, saying it still had to reconcile its data.
“This is to inform you that no updates will be released today (yesterday). We are still reconciling our data. We will resume giving updates tomorrow (today),” the agency informed the media.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella were also unable to give updates on the respective counts in their jurisdictions. FPL, JMD (FREEMAN)
