Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 Regional Director Eduardo Montealto said yesterday that a total of 110 hybrid buses have been given provisional authority to operate.

Montealto said that of the 110 units, six have now started operating.

“Based on a study conducted by the Department of Transportation, there is a need for more buses in Cebu to cater to the demand or influx of passengers,” Montealto said.

He said that 20 units will be fielded for the route from the Cebu South Bus Terminal in Cebu City to Lapu-Lapu City.

CSBT operations manager Jonathan Tumulak said six buses have started plying the said route since the other day.

Tumulak said that these six buses will start from CSBT and have designated bus stops at the Ayala Center Cebu, IT Park, SM City Cebu, the North Bus Terminal in Mandaue City, and the Marina Mall in Lapu-Lapu City.

The buses traveling from CSBT to Lapu-Lapu City are also equipped with bathrooms.
