Mandaue to cut JO services

Christell Fatima M. Tudtud - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Job order workers of Mandaue City assigned at the Barangay Health and Nutrition and Clean and Green Program were ordered to stop reporting to work effective on Monday.

City Administrator Danilo Almendras said this is part of the city government's streamlining of services by the JO workers. He, however, could not tell how many are affected because they are still finalizing the list.

Mandaue City has more than 2,000 JO workers assigned in different departments.

Almendras said the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) is still preparing the appointments for the second semester of the year after determining the actual personnel requirements of the affected offices.

"In connection therewith, you are advised not to report to your respective offices or units on Monday, July 2 until such time you receive a copy of the appointment issued for the period of July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018," reads the memorandum dated June 28 signed by Almendras.

"Until such time nga makadawat gyud sila'g kopya sa appointment, ayaw usa og report. Basin unya wa mo naapil ba sa pagre-issue sa appointment unya naka-serbisyo namo'g trabaho," Almendras said.

However, those assigned under the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM), City Public Market and garbage collectors as well as the metro aide units of the Department of General Services (DGS) are not covered by the memorandum.

Almendras said this is to maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the city. — FPL (FREEMAN)
