CEBU, Philippines - A 27-year-old man died on the spot after he was reportedly electrocuted and fell off the roof of a school building in Sitio Janssen Site in Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City Saturday dawn.

The victim was identified as Jonathan Palpita, a construction worker and resident of Dumanjug town.

His uncle, Elizalde, said their neighbors woke him up to inform him that his nephew was standing on the roof of the Salvatorian Pastoral School for Children.

Upon arriving at the school, Elizalde tried to convince Jonathan to climb down but to no avail.

Jonathan only replied, “Sige lang tiyo, uli lang ta ugma,” and suddenly held on to a live electric wire. He then fell off the roof unconscious.

Responding personnel from Cebu City Emergency Medical Services found that the victim was already lifeless when they checked the body upon their arrival on the scene.

Police are yet unable to declare the incident as a suicide as investigation is still ongoing.

Based on the account of another witness, Sister Ruth Baguingon, she heard the victim crying to his neihgbors for help in finding a job.

The body of the victim has been brought to a funeral home for an autopsy. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
