Town cops ‘rescued’ minors during curfew

CEBU, Philippines - Eight minors were rescued by Compostela, Cebu police and personnel of the town's Social Welfare and Development Office Friday evening during the curfew implementation led by Senior Police Officer 1 Oliver Rondina.

Rondina said most minors they rescued were having a drinking session while others were roaming the town, which started implementing its curfew ordinance.

The operation ended at midnight on Saturday.

The rescued minors were placed under the SWDO's custody before they would be turned over to their respective parents.

The penalty imposed against violators of the ordinance is community service or a fine ranging from P100 to P500.

The same team had also rescued before minors who were mostly playing video games at an internet café. (FREEMAN)
