Duljo brgy chief to seek Team Rama’s help

Odessa O. Leyson - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - While he has not received a copy of the complaint filed against him for allegedly supporting the illegal drug trade of slain Jeffrey "Jaguar" Diaz, the barangay captain of Duljo, Cebu City wants to seek assistance from the lawyers of Team Rama.

"Yes, kung madawat na nako ang complaint kay identified Team Rama baya ko," said Duljo Barangay Captain Elmer Abella.

Abella stressed that he is ready to undergo investigation.

"Andam ko nga moatubang bisan asang dapita, bisag asa wa koy problema," he said.

Last July 8, the complaint against Abella was filed by an anonymous person before the Office of the Ombudsman.

"I would like to request your office your honorable office to investigate our Barangay Captain Elmer Abella for violating the anti-graft and corruption practices act," the complaint read.

The complaint also stated that Diaz would campaign for Abella to ensure that he will win as barangay captain.

"In every election, Jaguar would move heaven and earth. They had gone even to the extent of buying votes for him and terrorizing voters to ensure Elmer's victory," the complaint added.

However, Abella has denied the allegations and stressed that he, in fact, has tried to convince Diaz to stop his illegal drug business.

"Ngano ilaha man gyud kong initan, mangita gyud siguro sila’g paagi ba, tungod kay nitubag siguro ko kabahin anang Tomas ba, pero sa among sitwasyon ba og dili mi motubag luoy sad kaayo mi," Abella said.

On the other hand, Lawyer Ernesto Rama, one of the legal counsels of Team Rama, said that he has not received any directive from former mayor Michael Rama to handle the case of Abella.

"I have not received any directive pa, we handle the case. Wala pa man ko ka-receive pero if moari sila namo, then we will provide a legal assistance," said Atty. Rama.

The FREEMAN tried to call former mayor Rama, but was not available as of press time.  (FREEMAN)
