Cop gets superior’s favor to keep post
CEBU, Philippines - The newly assigned chief of Dumanjug Police Station will be retained in his current post after Cebu Police Provincial Office director Clifford Gairanod was satisfied of his performance.
Inspector Rogelio Amoroso, who was previously involved in a shooting incident in Lapu-Lapu City, was recently appointed as the chief of Dumanjug police after Senior Inspector Julius Ompad was reassigned to Cebu City Police Office.
Gairanod in an interview said that based on his evaluation, Amoroso performed well since he assumed as the town’s police chief.
He said Amoroso complied with his directives and has been very diligent in his job.
According to Gairanod, it would be very unfair for Amoroso if he would be reassigned because of his past record.
He added that Amoroso deserves to be given a second chance to redeem himself and to prove that he is capable of handling a police station, especially during the election period.
The CPPO director further said he also wants to assign a police chief who is not familiar with the candidates in the municipality he is assigned to for him to remain apolitical.
Amoroso was the third to be assigned as station chief in Dumanjug since December after the alleged ambush incident involving the convoy of Vice Ma-yor Efren Gica Jr. in a mountain barangay in the town.
After the supposed ambush, at least five people were arrested and at least two people died in a hot pursuit operation. — (FREEMAN)
