Old man found dead

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - An 82-year-old man was found dead Sunday morning in the woods of Barangay Sagay, Borbon.

Zosimo Arnado Mondoñedo, of Barangay Bongdo Gua, allegedly visited his property in the nearby Barangay Don Gregorio Antigua.

Senior Police Officer 3 Owen Codilla Bati-cuang, desk officer of Borbon Police Station, said that Zosimo’s son, Bongdo Gua Barangay Councilman Lowell Ardanado Mondoñedo, told them that his father left the house last Saturday to visit his property.

Lowell said they did not bother to look for him when he failed to return home on that day, thinking that he may have stayed for the night with their relatives.

He was, however, shocked to have received a call on Sunday about an old man found dead in the woods. The dead body was found by Cesar Dagatan, 50, who passed by the area to bring his carabao to the river.

Police investigators, however, did not find signs of foul play. Nevertheless, the police advised the family to have the body autopsied.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man was injured after a neighbor shot him while he was watching a show Sunday evening in Barangay Saksak, Aloguinsan town.

Renante Oberez, habal-habal driver, was sitting in front of a sari-sari store watching a dance contest when he was shot allegedly by Crisente Abasolo, 46.

The suspect fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City.  (FREEMAN)
