Tabo sa Kapitolyo opens next week

CEBU, Philippines- Pride products of different local government units in the province will be displayed again at the Capitol compound as the Cebu Provincial Government opens its agricultural fair next week.

The activity dubbed as “Tabo sa Kapitolyo” (Agro-Fair) will run from August 3 to 8, 2015, at 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. every day. This is one of the highlights of the province’s celebration of its 446th founding anniversary on August 6.

The Provincial Information Office reported that agricultural products, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, will be sold at lower prices.

Around 500 kilos of milkfish, locally known as bangus, will also be sold during the opening salvo at P100 per kilo, which is lower than the P120 per kilo in the market. Provincial Agriculturist Roldan Saragena said the harvest came from the Naga fishpond maintained by his office.

Maria Theresa Abella, Agro Trade Fair coordinator, said the fair will supposedly conclude on August 7, but they have adjusted it in order to accommodate those who can only go on weekends.

The famous roasted native chicken and other delicacies of the towns will also be displayed. Sellers of ornamental plants and furniture will continue to be the Capitol’s regular exhibitors of the fair.

All the 51 LGUs in the province are provided with booths to sell their products for free.

The fair will also give chance for the farmers to realize that their products are still or being wanted in the market, the information office said.  (FREEMAN)
