Nigerian, cop in CR fracas

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 30-year-old Nigerian man was arrested after he allegedly grabbed the head of a urinating police official and pushed his face to his genitals in the comfort room of a mall in uptown Cebu City Sunday night.

Ghukmelie Ezeal, 30, landed in jail after the police official ran after him and he was cornered by the mall police.

The victim told the media said that he and his family together with a family friend went to a mall to spend time and he decided to use the comfort room past 6 p.m.

When he opened the door to the comfort room he saw the Nigerian inside so he was taken aback and said sorry, Ezeal said “it is ok” so he went inside the comfort room.

As he was urinating he was shocked to see Ezeal beside him with his jeans unzipped. Ezeal allegedly grabbed his head and pushed it toward his genitals but the police official was quick to evade any contact.

“Nisulod ko, didto ko’s bowl nangihi naa na siya sa akong kilid gi-grab ko niya, pag gunit giduot ko niya, na-outbalance ko,” the police official said.

He asked the foreigner what he was doing and said he was a police officer but the Nigerian allegedly cursed at him and so he grabbed the hand of Ezeal and tried to arrest him.

Ezeal broke away from his grip and ran out of the comfort room, the police official followed him and called the attention of security guards. He was not bringing a firearm since the mall prohibits the bringing of guns and he was also off-duty.

Ezeal was arrested by the security guards outside the mall and was brought to the mall office while other policemen were called to respond to the incident.

Ezeal allegedly struggled while he was being brought to the Mabolo Police Station, but when the official filled up the incident report form the foreigner started to realize that he was going to jail. Ezeal allegedly knelt and begged the official not to file a case against him but the official was firm in his decision.

He said he could not tolerate how the foreigner treated him and called him an “idiot” and a “monkey”.

“Bastos gyud, unsa ma’y tan-aw niya sa mga Pilipino?” he added.

The victim’s station chief, Chief Inspector Wildemar Tiu, said that what happened was a case of impertinence of a foreigner towards the country.

“This is a matter of pagpakaulaw ug pagbastos sa langyaw sa atong nasod, let us show them that we are governed with laws and we mean business,” Tiu said.

He said that after charges for unjust vexation, grave oral defamation, acts of lasciviousness, are filed in court he will send a copy of it to the International Police and of the Bureau of Immigration for his immediate deportation.

It was not immediately known if Ezeal was a student or a tourist since he could not produce a passport. His address was listed as Talamban, Cebu City.

The police official added that this incident was the weirdest thing that ever happened to him. — /BRP (FREEMAN)
