Aguilos turns over post to Tancinco

Marigold Lebumfacil - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Raul Aguilos has turned over his post as Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 Director to Arnel Tancinco, the Assistant Regional Director.

The turnover was made yesterday sans order from the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) because Aguilos is expected to assume as undersecretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) today.

In an interview with The Freeman, Tancinco confirmed that the special order for assumption is yet to be signed by DOTC Asst. Secretary Virgie Torres. The official was reportedly attending a budget hearing at the Senate and was not able to sign the document at her office.

“Karun (yesterday) ang turn-over kay kinahanglan naman molakaw si Director Aguilos,” Tancinco explained.

He clarified that he won’t make any move until he receives the signed order. LTO7 expects to receive the signed document from Torres today.

“Wala pa koy special order nga nadawat, not until ma-receive na nato, di ta maka-assume ug makahatag ug policy direction. (I have not received an order. Until I do so, I cannot assume and set policy direction),” Tancinco said yesterday.

“I do not want to think any challenge pa kay dako kaayo na siya nga trabaho. First things first, if naa na ang order, we will be calling an executive meeting sa opisina to thresh out unsay mabiyaan ni Director Aguilos ug unsay angay ipadayon ug unsay possible changes on the different policy directions. (It’s a big responsibility. I don’t want to think of any challenge for now. First things first – we will call for an executive meeting once the order arrives so we can thresh out everything Director Aguilos has left behind and see what policies need to be continued and what need to be changed),” Tancinco added.

Aguilos, for his part, said he is grateful for the chance to serve as LTO7 chief for almost six years. He recalled the controversies that greeted his assumption into office, but he was able to solve them with the help of his people in the agency.

Tancinco said Aguilos is now considered one of the prime movers at LTO.

Asked what he can advise Tancinco and future heads of LTO, Aguilos said they must be transparent and must be dedicated to their functions and duties.

“I always hope that they will always be accessible to the public, lead by example and be honest and transparent and dedicate to service, no money business. Transparency and dedication for their functions and duties that would be enough for them to be successful,” Aguilos said.  (FREEMAN)
