A Haven for Smart Luxury

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor Ynclino (The Freeman) - June 7, 2018 - 12:00am

It was quite a surprise for us lifestyle writers when our good friend, Laurent Boisdron of the Radisson days, invited us to a delightful dinner at Circa 1900 two weeks ago. Indeed, our surprise was mellowed when Laurent told us he was back in the country and is presently the general manager of Conrad Manila. In fact, he was accompanied by Michael Albaña, director of business development of Conrad Manila.

Conrad Manila inspires guests with a haven for smart luxury by Manila Bay, with its 347 guest rooms, dining and leisure options. The hotel is owned by SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation, a subsidiary of SM Investment Corporation, and managed by Hilton Worldwide. It is strategically located at the forefront of the 42-hectare Mall of Asia Complex, a destination earmarked as a shopping, leisure, and business hub.

Inspired by the shipping vessels that ply the bay, Conrad Manila`s architecture is both iconic and intuitive. A recipient of the prestigious LEED Gold-Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), all guest rooms and suites feature motion sensors that adjust the air conditioning switches from energy-saving mode to cool and automatically open the curtains with ambient lighting set to match the time of the day. Guests are treated to heightened luxury with 42-inch flat screen HDTV with an IPTV menu, wi-fi and wired Internet access, Nespresso machine, Bluetooth-enabled entertainment technology and hydrotheraphy rain showers, suite and executive lounge, and bathrooms that feature mirrored TV for an uninterrupted entertainment experience.

Located on the third level of the hotel is the coral-shaped swimming pool, inspired by the pristine coastal seas of the Philippines. Guests may also slip to the 24-hour fitness center of the Conrad Spa, which offers a variety of locally inspired treatments using organic ingredients. The spa has six treatment rooms with soaking tubs, a private sauna and steam facilities.
