Gabrielle “Gaby” Ruiz was the most excited girl when her Dad Gil Ruiz now New York based, called to tell her that she will have a party on her birthday. Thus, her Mom Girlie, after talking to her Dad, immediately called Golden Cowrie and reserved for 50 guests. And so last April 8, everyone partook of the lunch that Girlie hosted for Gaby. Eldest daughter Gwen helped her Mom entertain relatives and friends who came to lunch. Before everyone could say goodbye, Gaby blew the 10 candles on her birthday cake.

Before Nelia Neri left for her Asian tour, she promised our group that she would treat us to a lovely dinner on her birthday. True enough, on her return we had a delightful dinner at the newly opened Cocina de la Casa, a resto owned and managed by Margette Sarmiento and group. Cocina de la Casa is a restaurant serving real and authentic Spanish cuisine. For our desserts, Margette had the chef concoct a yummy one, a treat for Nelia!

Actually, Medy Kai’s birthday is still in May. But she never left for Japan (her second home) until after she treated her friends (the Elegant ladies) to a sit-down dinner at Pig & Palm with Mariquita Yeung seeing to it that Medy’s wish for a beautiful evening was met. The U-shape arrangement of the tables was decorated with beautiful extra-large orchids in violet and white from the MSY gardens. With Medy during dinner was her daughter Wayumi and sister Ginging. Medy is expected to be back before the end of May.
