SWU inks deal with ZHO for internship of students
CEBU, Philippines — Southwestern University PHINMA (SWU PHINMA) has signed a partnership deal with the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) providing opportunities for students of the College of Rehabilitative Sciences to get internships in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The agreement was signed by ZHO Secretary General, His Excellency Abdullah Abdul Ali Al-Humaidan and Ms. Cheryl Jane Chan, COO of PHINMA Education, in a ceremony witnessed by Philippine Ambassador to UAE, His Excellency Alfonso Ferdinand Ver.
Under the agreement, SWU students will be able to complete their Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) internships at ZHO’s rehabilitation centers in Abu Dhabi. The internship will provide students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with ZHO, which will help them prepare for their future careers.
“We are honored to partner with the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination. This partnership will provide our students with the opportunity to gain invaluableexperience working with People of Determination and to learn from the world-class rehabilitation services offered by ZHO,” said Chan.
According to Al-Humaidan, ZHO commits to supporting the development of the next generation of physical therapists and occupational therapists with its partnership with SWU-PHINMA.
“This partnership with Southwestern University will help us achieve this goal by providing students with the opportunity to train and work in our state-of-the-art rehabilitation centers,” added Al-Humaidan.
Philippine Ambassador to UAE, His Excellency Alfonso Ferdinand Ver welcomed the partnership between SWU and ZHO, saying their partnership is a testament to the strong ties between the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
“It is also a testament to the commitment of both countries to provide high-quality education in specialized healthcare,” the Ambassador added.
Furthermore, the Ambassador underscored that SWU and ZHO partnership is a significant development for the field of physical therapy and occupational therapy in the Philippines and the UAE. It will help to ensure that both countries have a pool of highly skilled and experienced PTs and OTs to meet the needs of their growing populations. — (FREEMAN)
