Chamber Beat: How does the Chamber of Commerce facilitate trade?

CEBU, Philippines —  Deputized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is authorized to facilitate the authentication of export documents such as but not limited to Export Declarations (EDs) and the issuance of Certificate of Origins (COs).

The Certificate of Origin (CO) records the country of origin that an imported good has come from and which is often mandated by importing countries and included in trade agreements, as it is used to levy the appropriate import tax if any applies. Moreover, a CO can either be on paper or in digital format and must be approved by the requisite chamber of commerce or customs authority.

Along with PHILEXPORT, the chamber is go-to office for exporters to provides frontline services such as trade advisory, facilitation, and referral; buyer-seller and investment matching trade fair participation; special promotions programs and selling missions abroad.

Authentication of export documents is one of the facets of trade facilitation which is a vehicle for economic growth and increased trade competitiveness. Moreover, it benefits all countries by allowing better access for businesses to production inputs from abroad and supporting greater participation in global value chains (GVCs).
