Sinulog trade fair rakes in P6.3M in sales
CEBU, Philippines - The 2016 Sinulog trade fair organized by the Department of Trade and Industry-Cebu has already generated around P6.3 million in sales as of Thursday, an official revealed.
Elias Tecson, business development chief at DTI-Cebu, told The FREEMAN yesterday that this has already surpassed the P5.6-million sales generated during last year's Sinulog fair.
Tecson attributed the sales increase to the improvement in product design and development made by the traders.
"Also, the opportunity of the buying public from IEC (International Eucharistic Congress) delegates and those who overstayed from Sinulog activities," Tecson explained.
Cebu is currently hosting the 51st IEC which is gathering both local and overseas visitors.
There are at least 15,000 delegates reportedly attending the congress, which is a gathering of Catholics from different parts of the world. The religious event started last Sunday and will end on Jan. 31.
Meanwhile, there are at least 52 traders participating in the ongoing trade fair which will run until January 31. The fair, being put up in SM City Cebu, started last January 8.
