It will be my first time to spend Christmas away from home.  I have spent Christmas alone in the Philippines for two years when my brother left to work overseas.  Even then, my married siblings and friends were just around for Christmas parties and get-togethers.  When my brother came home in June, I saw the opportunity to go out of the country to share my skills and expertise with people in a less-developed country in Africa.
