MANILA, Philippines – Athletes, sports personalities and celebrities poured their hearts out on social media for one last time to thank their TV home ABS-CBN S+A one  ahead of its shutdown starting next month.

Volleyball stars Alyssa Valdez, Aby Marano, Grethcel Soltones, Sisi Rondina, Majoy Baron and Den Den Lazaro along with collegiate basketball standouts Ricci Rivero and Shaun Ildefonso led the tributes online following the official goodbye of the network’s sports arm the other day.

ABS-CBN Integrated Sports head Dino Laurena on Thursday announced the sports channel’s final buzzer as one of the company’s first casualties following the decision of House of Representatives last week to junk its broadcast franchise application.

“Kasama ko sa pagtupad ng aking pangarap. Maraming Salamat,” said the former three-time UAAP MVP Valdez.

“My heart and prayers to go out to all the ABS-CBN sports staff. Kasama kayo sa pag-abot ng pangarap ko,” added national volleyball team skipper Maraño, who worked for the network as floor director, analyst, and editor during her internship.

Broadcasters, hosts, commentators, reporters, editors, writers, directors, production crew and cameramen are among the affected employees of S+A once the retrenchment begins next month.

Formerly known as Studio 23, the rebranded S+A was home to major leagues UAAP, NCAA, MPBL and PVL to name a few.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN will remain as the UAAP’s partner for the staging of its Season 82 closing ceremonies on July 25. The virtual show will be streamed on the network’s online platforms.
