Sea Lions overhaul Engineers in UCBL

MANILA, Philippines — Olivarez College stepped up its drive for the semifinals as it smothered Technological Institute of the Philippines, 82-67, yesterday in the University and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez gym in Sucat, Parañaque.

The Sea Lions wiped out a 12-point deficit in the first quarter by controlling the next three on their way to the 15-point victory.

Lawrence Castro tossed in  26 points on 11-of-17 shooting clip from the field and finished with four assists, three steals and two rebounds and three turnovers.

Meanwhile, Centro Escolar U, the inaugural champion in the tournament backed by Café France, Yakult, Gerry’s Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, MaxSell Power Tool and Tough Mama Home, and Diliman clash for the No. 1 seeding on Thursday.

Philippine Christian U, with seven players churning out double-digit scores, rode on a big second quarter run to demolish St. Joseph College of Bulacan, 107-75, in the other match.
