Janelle Mae Frayna ends up 19th in Belgium tourney

MANILA, Philippines — Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna downed Belgian Tim Peeters in final round to end up at 19th place in the Burgse Meesters in Burges, Belgium Thursday night.

Frayna, 22, finished the nine-round tournament with six points for joint 16th with 16 others. She eventually wound up 19th after the tiebreaks.

The Philippine Sports Commission-backed Frayna, whose campaign is also supported by The Philippine STAR president and chief executive officer Miguel Belmonte, earlier struggled to place 45th in the Hogeschool Zeeland in Vlissingen, the Netherlands last week.
