MANILA, Philippines — The 'Fast and the Furious' saw its last ride in the 2017 PBA Governors' Cup.
Jayjay Helterbrand on Monday confirmed that he will retire from professional basketball.
"That will be my last game as a player," Helterbrand said during his interview with CNN Philippines' Sports Desk.
The 41-year old Helterbrand said he had no regrets and that it is the perfect time to hang his jersey.
"I will still be around. Maybe I'll have a spot as an assistant coach." he said.
Helterbrand played for Barangay Ginebra for 17 years.
On top of six PBA championships, he was named Most Valuable Player in 2009, Finals MVP in 2006 and a two time Best Player of the Conference.
He conspired with Mark Caguioa to form one of the deadliest back court tandem in the league dubbed "The Fast and the Furious."
Helterbrand was supposed to retire after the 2015-2016 season, but decided to play for another year.
