Young Anton tops Ford Shakedown at Clark

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama Iñigo Anton once more flaunted great potentials as he topped the time sheets and captured the Class C crown in the recently concluded Flat out race series (FORS) shakedown at the Clark International Speedway.

The 10-year-old son of multi-titled car racing champ Carlos Anton posted an almost perfect time of 2 minutes, 23.070 on only his third lap to clinch the title through the huge support of Cars Unlimited, Mohspeed, Autoshack, JSD Autosport, View Park Hotel and Special Stage.

The young Anton battled car problems in the morning warm up when the axle shaft in his Mark Young-Works Bell-prepared EG failed.  The team, led by Oliver Estrella, quickly worked on the problem and made it just in time for the first race.

His time was good enough to edge out Paolo Rodriguez (2:23.611) using a Toyota GT86 and Kitz Ferrer (2:24.243).

“I am so happy we got a good time right away, I thought we would not be able to race today after this morning’s problems,” Anton said.

Anton’s teammate Miggy Sohu of Team Gerco racing also won Class E, recording his first win in Time Attack Racing while his older brother Gab Sohu placed second in Class B, showing the crowd that the kids who race are a real force to reckon with.

Anton then went on to race the very next day in the Touge Battle race also in Clark where he finished third in the  Race Car Open division against eventual winner Miko Briones and Niño Garcia.

Anton is now busy preparing with Edgen Dy-Liacco for the second round of the Petron Karting series where he is running under the Kart-Plaza Edgesport banner in the Formula Cadet Novice class.
