Palawan-La Carlota leg lures big field

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Keen competition is seen when the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age group tennis presented by Technifibre holds its fourth leg beginning today in La Carlota, Bacolod City.

Local aces Toni Rose Raymundo and Karl Baran of PTA Carlota banner the talent-laden field in the five-day tournament, the first Group 2 Philta-sanctioned event held in La Carlota which drew more than 200 players from Iloilo, Dumalag, Cabatuan, Dumaguete, Capiz, Bais, Manila and nearby cities in Negros.

Mayor Juliet Marie Ferrer has guaranteed the smooth and successful staging of the tournament held as part of the country’s leading pawnshop, remittance and claim center’s 38-stage nationwide tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.

Registration is free with the organizers also giving away souvenir T-shirts to all participants.

“We want to give all players a chance to compete in a ranking tournament in line with Palawan Pawnshop’s all-out support to Philippine tennis,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.

Raymundo heads the cast in the girls’ 18-and-under section that includes Amoy Joy Decendario, Divanice Hibionada, Tracy Llamas, Mariz Singson, Erica Sevilla and Jean Sunio.
