SEA stint staked in nat’l duathlon

MANILA, Philippines - An all-expense paid trip to an international duathlon event next year within Southeast Asia awaits the top male and female standard-distance age-groupers in the Philippine National Duathlon Championships 2013 set Dec. 1 at the Subic Bay Freeport.

Also at stake in the event sponsored by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Tourism Department, Standard Insurance, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines, Inc., Gatorade, David’s Salon, Fitness First, Lifestyle Subic Bay and Green Triathlon, are berths in the national duathlon team for youth participants who do well in the Junior Sprint (5 K run-20 K bike-2.5 K run) and Youth Mini Sprint (2.5 K run-12 K bike-2.5 K run) categories.

Apart from recruiting junior duathletes, the organizing Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) added that it is still searching for up-and-coming duathletes for the Elite category.

Over 150 participants have signed up for the PNDC. For the period Nov. 1-25, entry fee is P2,500 for standard distance participants and P2,000 for sprint and mini-sprint participants. Each finisher will be entitled to a finisher’s medal, official race t-shirt and a post-event meal.
