Galedo tops SEAG road race qualifier

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Former Ronda Pilipinas champion Mark Galedo of 7-Eleven/Roadbike Phl and LBC-MVP Sports Foundation Cycling Pilipinas’ Junrey Navarra and Ronald Oranza emerged the top three finishers in the 144-km road race in Tagaytay City that served as the final Southeast Asian Games qualifier by the PhlCycling.

Galedo, who topped the second edition of the Ronda Pilipinas last year, edged Navarra in a sprint to the finish although they posted identical times of three hours, 31 minutes, 33.38 seconds in a route that started at the Tagaytay City Hall and ended at Canyon Woods.

“We just proved that we deserved to be in the national team and represent the country in the Southeast Asian Games,” said Galedo in Pilipino, referring to the Myanmar SEAG slated from Dec. 11-22.

Navarra, a 19-year-old native of Tupi, South Cotabato who made it to the LBC-MVPSF team on the strength of his King of the Mountain victory in the LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2013 last February, also made the cut to Myanmar.
