Jones defends UFC crown vs Jackson

MANILA, Philippines - Jon “Bones” Jones, the youngest UFC champion in history, defends his light heavyweight title against former champion Rampage Jackson in UFC 135 on Sept. 25 with Balls (SkyCable Channel 34), the home of the UFC in the Philippines, to air the fight starting at 9:30 a.m.

The 24-year-old Jones has strung up an unblemished 9-0-0 record in the first two years of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. He lost to Matt Hamil in December 2009. But after that loss, he kept on winning, becoming the light heavyweight champion with a record of 13-1-0.

In Jones’ last fight before inking a contract with the UFC, he thrashed Moyses Gabin via technical knockout in the second round, which is believed to have impressed the UFC.

But he will be up against a former UFC light heavyweight champion in Jackson, who is known for his powerful body slams. He was also noted for his multiple knockout wins against Ricardo Arona and Chuck Lidell.

Also on tap in UFC 135 is the clash between legendary UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes against Josh Koscheck.
