UE goes all-Filipino in UAAP wars

-

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East is fielding an All-Filipino men’s basketball team in the UAAP season 74, believing in and relying on the capability of Filipino youths.

The university belied a STAR’s story dated July 6, which mentioned UE as one of the schools fielding teams reinforced with foreign players. The report partly read, “Also cleared were two foreign players, Cameroonian Karim Abdul of University of Santo Tomas, and Nigerian Alinko Mba of University of the East, but on condition they submit certificate of birth authenticated by Phl Embassy/Consular office from their country of origins by Aug. 11.”

UE stressed it has no foreign student from Nigeria named Alinko Mba.

The school said its men’s basketball team comprises all-Filipino student-players. Its coaching staff with head coach Jerry Codiñera is also all-Filipino.

UE Red Warriors’ Head Coach Codiñera pins great hopes on the following UE Warriors to step up every Warriors’ game in the UAAP 74 season: Team Captain Paul Christian C. Zamar (Point Guard/Off Guard); Team Co-Captain Lucas B. Tagarda (Off Guard); Lord Howier M. Casajeros (Off Guard); Shej Roi D. Sumang (Point Guard); Von Arvie U. Chavez (Point Guard); Benjamin James T. Zosa (Point Guard), Ronnie Rosetom De Leon (Center); Erwin M. Duran (Power Forward); Jairold T. Flores (Power Forward); Adrian M.
