Unbreakable opens bid in Triple Crown

Unbreakable, aiming to become only the ninth Triple Crown champion in the history of local horseracing, puts his unblemished track record on the line today when the first leg of this year’s Triple Crown, also known as the Cojuangco Cup, is held at the Santa Ana Park.

The winner of the 1,600-m race gets a whopping P1 million and a shot at the coveted Triple Crown. The second leg, known as the JV Ongpin Cup, is set next month to be followed by the last leg, the Horseman’s Cup, in July.

Coming off impressive victories in the Philracom Chairman’s Cup and the PCSO Grand Championship Cup, Unbreakable will try to stamp his class against a competitive field of fellow three-year-olds.

The other entries are Mighty Strong, Magical Mark, Praetorian, Art of Rose, Material Maker, What A Spell, Cutting Edge, Señor Raggaas, Al Barag and Mica’s Magic. — R. Romualdez
