MANILA, Philippines — Kaagad humanga si Meralco coach Norman Black sa ipinakita ni import Tony Bishop sa kanilang 98-77 panalo sa Blackwater noong nakaraang Huwebes.

Kumolekta ang Panamanian reinforcement ng 28 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks at 2 assists para sa kanyang PBA debut.

“He has a lot of versatility in his game, an all-around player. I don’t think he’s the give-him-the-ball, get-out-of-the-way type of player but he fits well with what we do in terms of ball movement and player movement,” ani Black kay Bishop.

Masusukat ang kakayahan ni Bishop sa pagharap ng Meralco sa TNT Tropang Giga nga­yong alas-6 ng gabi sa 2021 PBA Governors Cup sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Umiskor naman ang Tropang Giga, nagkampeon sa nakaraang 2021 PBA Philippine Cup sa semi-bubble sa Bacolor, Pampanga, ng 81-77 pa­nalo sa Alaska Aces.

Aminado si TNT mentor Chot Reyes na hindi pa kabisado ni import M­cKenzie Moore ang kanilang sistema pati na ng bagong hugot na si Gab Banal.

“We really expected to struggle in our first few games because we haven’t played any tune-up or practice game with Mac (Moore), Gab (Banal) and the new guys,” ani Reyes.

Sa unang laro sa alas-3 ng hapon ay mag-uuna­han naman ang Alaska at Blackwater na makaahon mula sa kamalasan.

Nahulog ang Aces sa dalawang sunod na kabiguan matapos ang 2-0 panimula sa torneo, samantalang nasa PBA record na 23-game losing skid ang Bossing.

“Nag-i-struggle na kami sa chemistry even before, ngayon dynamics naiba rin,” wika ni Bossing coach Ariel Vanguardia.
