Pinas tumapos ng ika-7 sa 8th Asean Para Games

MANILA, Philippines – Nagtapos sa ikapitong puwesto ang Pilipinas matapos umani ng 16 ginto, 17 pilak at 26 tansong medalya sa 8th Asean Para Games na ginanap sa Singapore.

Nanguna sa kampanya ng Pambansang koponan ang chess team na nagbigay ng anim na gintong tampok ang dalawang ginto na nasungkit ni Menandro Redor sa men’s individual rapid at standard B2/B3.

Kumana rin ng ginto si Sander Severino sa men’s individual rapid-PI gayundin ang men’s team rapid-PI, men’s team rapid-B2/B3 at men’s team standard-B2/B3.

Nagbigay ng limang ginto ang athletics team mula kina Jerrold Pete Macabio (men’s 200m at 100m-T52), Prudencia Del Mundo (women’s 200m at 100m-T53/54) at Joel Balatucan (men’s shot put-F53/54/55) habang may tatlong ginto naman ang swimming galing kina Ernie Gawilan (men’s 200m Individual Medley at 400m freestyle-SM8) at Gary Adornajo Begino (men’s 400m freestyle-S7).

Ang iba pang gold medalists ay sina Adeline Ancheta (women’s over 86-kg.) sa powerlifting at Josephine Medina (women’s singles Class 7-8) sa table tennis.

Napasakamay ng Thailand ang pangkalahatang kampeonato tangan ang 95 ginto, 76 pilak at 79 tanso kasunod ang Indonesia (81-74-63), Malaysia (52-58-37), Vietnam (48-58-50), Singapore (24-17-22) at Myanmar (16-17-29). Ikawalo ang Brunei Darussalam (3-3-6), ikasiyam ang Cambodia (1-2-6) at panghuli ang Laos (0-2-3).
