Sen. Chiz nag-sorry sa paggamit ng driver sa EDSA bus lane

MANILA, Philippines — Nag-sorry si Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero sa publiko at sa mga kasamahan sa Senado matapos ilegal na dumaan sa bus lane sa EDSA ang isang luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) gamit ang protocol plate No. 7 na naka-isyu sa kanya.

Inamin ni Escudero na hindi awtorisado ang paggamit ng protocol plate dahil ang sasakyan ay minamaneho ng driver ng isa niyang kapamilya. Hindi naman pinangalanan ni Escudero ang kapamilya  at ang driver.

“In the morning of 11 April 2024, a vehicle bearing protocol license plates issued to me was apprehended by the MMDA for improperly using the bus lane on Edsa. The use of the protocol plate was unauthorized, as the vehicle was being driven by the driver of a family member,” ani Escudero.

Sinabi ni Escudero na humihingi siya ng tawad sa publiko at sa mga kasamahan sa Senado dahil sa nangyaring “oversight” at titiyakin niyang magagamit ng tama ang mga protocol plates na ipinagkaloob sa kanya nang naaayon sa mga probisyon ng Executive Order No. 57,s.2024.

“I apologize to the public and my colleagues in the Senate for this oversight. Moving forward, I commit to ensure that the protocol plates entrusted to me are used appropriately, consistent with the provisions of Executive Order No. 56, s. 2024,” ani Escudero.

Sinabi rin ni Escudero na hindi niya personal na ginagamit ang protocol license plates na iniisyu at ang protocol plates na nasangkot sa insidente kaya isi-surender na lamang ito sa Land Transportation Office. (LTO).

Inihayag din ni Escudero na inatasan na niya ang driver na mag-report sa tanggapan ng Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at harapin ang mga kinakaharap na reklamo at violation.
