'Very destructive': magnitude 7.2 quake niyanig Davao Occidental; pinsala posible
MANILA, Philippines — Tinamaan ng mapaminsalang 7.2 magnitude na lindol ang ilang bahagi ng Mindanao ngayong araw, ito habang inaasahan ng gobyerno ang damages at aftershocks.
Bandang 4:20 p.m. ng Biyernes nang maitala ang naturang lindol na may epicenter 30 kilometro mula sa Sarangani, Davao Occidental, ayon sa Phivolcs.

Umabot sa Intensity VIII ang pagyanig na nadama sa Sarangani at South Cotabato, bagay na nangangahulugang "napakamapaminsala," ayon sa PHIVOLCS Earthquake Intensity Scale (PEIS).

Inaasahan ang pinsala at mga mas mahihinang lindol dahil sa pagyanig na ito o 'yung tinatawag na "aftershocks."
Bagama't nangyari ang paglindol sa gitna ng tubig, sinabi naman ng state seismologists na walang banta ng tsunami sa ngayon.
"No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available sea-level data. This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake," sabi ng Phivolcs.
"However, earthquakes of this size may generate unusual sea level disturbances that may be observed along coasts near earthquake epicenter of Davao Occidental."
