Pinas, China ‘di gagamit ng puwersa sa WPS
MANILA, Philippines - Nagkaisa sina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Chinese President Xi Jinping na huwag gumamit ng pananakot at puwersa sa pagresolba sa isyu ng South China Sea kasama na ang West Philippine Sea.
Sa joint statement ng 2 lider na inilabas lamang kahapon, ang isyu sa teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea ay hindi dapat makaapekto sa relasyon ng Pilipinas at China.
“Both sides exchange views on the importance of handling the disputes in the South China Sea in an appropriate manner,” nakasaad pa sa joint statement.
“Both sides also reaffirm the importance of maintaining and promoting peace and stability, freedom of navigation in and over-flight above the South China Sea, addressing their territorial and jurisdictional disputes by peaceful means, without resorting to the threat or use of force, through friendly consultations and negotiations by sovereign states directly concerned, in accordance with universally recognized principles of international law, including the Charter of the United Nations and the 1982 UNCLOS,” nakapaloob pa sa statement.
Ang United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) ang naging basehan ng Pilipinas sa paghahain ng reklamo laban sa China sa Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) sa The Hague.
Naging pabor sa Pilipinas ang naging desisyon ng PCA noong July 2015 kung saan ay sinabing ang Panatag Shoal ay tradisyunal na fishing ground ng mga Filipino fishermen sa West Philippine Sea.
Tinapos na kahapon ni Pangulong Duterte ang kanyang 4-araw na state visit sa China kung saan ay inilarawan nitong naging matagumpay ang kanyang pagbisita.
Dumating na kagabi bandang alas-10:00 sa Davao International Airport si Pangulong Duterte mula sa Beijing.
