New world makati opens Jasmine and Café 1228

Jasmine chef Jerico Baylosis

I thought it wouldn’t happen again this year but it did. I used to go to New World Makati’s Chinese restaurant, Jasmine, for my all-you-can-eat dim sum, and then the pandemic happened. My wish to have this unlimited feast again finally came true again recently!

New World Makati Hotel reopened its two renowned dining destinations, Jasmine and Café 1228, each highlighting a signature array of all-you-can-eat dim sum dishes and Western and regional fare. These outlets are open for lunch from Thursdays to Sundays and dinner from Thursdays to Saturdays only.

Guests can feast on unlimited favorites such as barbecued honey-roasted pork, steamed hargao shrimp dumplings, xiao long bao or Shanghainese pork dumplings, shao mai or pork and crabmeat dumplings, fried wonton dumplings, seafood taro puffs, barbecued pork puffs, and more.

Other bestselling main courses are also included in the offer, like the deep-fried sole fillet with salted egg, wok-fried Kong Pao chicken with cashew nuts, sweet and sour pork, and braised bean curd with black mushrooms.

A selection of rice, noodle, and congee dishes are likewise available, such as fried rice yeung chow style, pork and century egg congee, and braised e-fu noodles with vegetables. Dishes such as the crispy pork belly (P240), soy chicken (P240), pan-fried beef tenderloin (P280), and sliced beef with vegetables in oyster sauce (P280) are offered at an add-on price.

Diners can prepare for an ultimate feast at Café 1228 with a selection of order-all-you-can dishes prepared a la minute within its five cooking stations. Grilled items include lamb brochette, rosemary chicken, mahi-mahi in kaffir lime and olive oil, herb and garlic marinated beef strip loin, pork spareribs in garlic, while seafood offerings include shrimps, clams, and blue crabs cooked with a choice of garlic butter, salt and pepper, Singaporean style, in white wine sauce or baked with garlic and cheese.

Freshly prepared pizzas offered are frutti de mare (seafood), Parma ham with feta cheese, Mushroom and four cheese, Margherita, and Mediterranean vegetable. Pasta is either spaghetti or penne with pesto cream, puttanesca, marinara or carbonara.

Jasmine

Jasmine’s Yum Cha is priced at P1,088 net per person for lunch and dinner from Thursdays to Fridays and P1,288 net from Saturdays to Sundays. The all-you-can-eat feast at Cafe 1228 is offered for lunch at P2,400 on Thursdays and Fridays and P2,988 on Saturdays and Sundays. For dinner, it is priced at P2,600 on Thursdays and P2,988 on Fridays and Saturdays; 50 percent off applies to Club Epicure & BDO credit cardholders at Cafe 1228.

Safety and health protocols are strictly observed in New World Makati. All plates and utensils are sanitized and prepared only when the guests arrive.  All the restaurant staff wear facemasks and shields.  I did feel safe eating out in safe restaurants like this.

I had my fill of the delicious Chinese specialties of Jasmine and I shall do Café 1228 soon.
