Maxicare Healthcare Corp., the country’s leading healthcare provider, recently set a new Guinness World Record during its biggest health and wellness event — the Maxicare Maxifest: Live Your Best Life — held at SM by the Bay’s Central Park in Pasay City.

Hundreds of fitness buffs jumped for joy when Guinness World Record adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar announced that Maxicare now holds the record for the most number of people hugging a soft toy simultaneously using Maxibear, Maxicare’s official stuffed plush toy.

Runners participated in the Maxifest run, which was organized by Runrio Inc. The run featured 500-meter dash (for three- to 12-year-olds), 2k Senior Sprint (for 60-year-olds and above), 3k, 5k, 10k and 16k running courses.

After the run, the plush toys were then donated to the children of Kythe Foundation Inc., a non-profit, non-stock organization aimed towards improving the quality of life among hospitalized children with cancer and other illnesses.

The event also featured a Maxicare Market, a one-stop shop that consisted of around 50 food stalls with ready-to-eat, plant-based alternatives.

Seen participating at the event were Iya Villania and Drew Arellano, Jam Manalo, Kimpoy Feliciano, Sam Hashimoto, Apple David, Kyle Vergara and Jackie Go. *
