A classy birthday bash
The ever so graceful and lovely Fe Rodriguez was the picture of ultimate contentment when she was feted to a cheerful celebration by her family and close friends at the cozy Essensa at The Fort. The happy gathering not only saw the attendance of lovely ladies from Manila’s high society, it was also graced with the presence of members of the diplomatic corps. Guests had their fill of the sumptuous menu as well as a glimpse of classic paintings by Amorsolo, Bencab, Legazpi and other masters — and not to forget, the pleasure and good company of long-time friends. Happy birthday, Fe!
Welcoming the Ox
One of the grandest lunar fetes was recently held at the multi-Kalakbay awardee Mandarin Oriental to welcome the lunar New Year of the Yin Earth Ox. Spearheaded by Mandarin Oriental general manager Helmut Gaisberger together with Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay, the ball started rolling with a prosperity motorcade led by a grandiose float that was followed by a convoy that included Dr. Elenita Binay, Rep. Teddy Boy Locsin Jr. and wife Louie, Nonoy and Tina Colayco, Jullie Yap-Daza, philanthropist Rosemarie Arenas, daughter Rep. Rachel Arenas and Smart Infinity’s business group head Julie Carceller. Resident feng shui expert and geomancer master Joseph Chau performed the traditional Tibetan ritual, “Paai Shan” to dispel bad luck. The celebration culminated with a breathtaking fireworks display courtesy of Enchanted Kingdom’s chairman and president Mario Mamon and wife Cynthia.

They all want to play Futsal
Mizuno challenges you to an exciting futsal (indoor soccer) game every Wednesday, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Club 650 Sports Center in Libis, Quezon City. Learn the basics of the sport as you join the Mizuno Futsal Club (MFC), an organization of enthusiastic and aspiring futsal players. Everyone is welcome to join, just show up in your Mizuno shoes and you’re ready to play! No registration fee is required. Games will be running until March 2009.
