WATCH: How 5 bets for Supreme Court post answer tough questions

MANILA, Philippines — Before being chosen as the top five nominees for the associate justice post at the Supreme Court, candidates underwent a public interview with the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).

The shortlisted nominees, namely Court of Appeals (CA) Presiding Justice Andres Reyes, CA Justices Jose Reyes and Apolinario Bruselas, Justice Secretary Benjamin Caguioa and former Commission on Audit Chair Maria Garcia Pulido-Tan, expressed their opinions and answered issues thrown at them.

The chosen associate justice will fill the vacancy of the high court's 174th Associate Justice Martin Villarama Jr. who retired on January 16 due to health reasons.
