Poor Ninoy Aquino!
The airport that bears his name is consistently named among the worst in the region and the world, for reasons ranging from passenger inconvenience and discomfort to safety and technical issues.
Now it’s surot (bedbugs)?! The video on an online news site of bugs crawling out of the holes on steel seats in the waiting area of the airport is enough to gross out passengers. Saying this is an isolated incident is hardly any comfort or assurance. There could be any number of reasons for the presence of the surots – perhaps from the bags of passengers waiting for boarding – that is not directly the fault of airport authorities, but it just makes NAIA look really, really bad.
My daughter and her friend are flying to Davao next week, and they said they will wear pants, put insect repellent all over their body and not sit anywhere but will just stand the whole time they’re waiting to board the plane.
Thank goodness NAIA is being privatized. I’m sure Mr. Ramon Ang can immediately come up with a solution to the surot problem, as well as the many other problems hounding our poor airport. Good luck, sir! — Javier Corpus, BGC, Taguig City
