Who’s the real coward?

The Philippine Star

It is so unfair for the UNDOF Commander, LtGen. Iqbal Singha, to regard our Filipino soldiers as cowards. What he says will not only bring animosity towards us Filipinos, especially the youth, those whose dream is to become soldiers in the future. He is destroying the good image of Filipino soldiers. He has nothing to gain from such a vicious remark as it behooves a good soldier, leader and manager to be a good example to his men. He has been an officer and soldier for so long yet it is as if he has learned nothing but impropriety. Does he treat his own men like that or of soldier of other nationalities?

When the situation seems abnormal, he puts the blame on others. We have no hostility towards Indians as many of them have businesses here and intermarried with our Filipinas, but he himself is the one fomenting hostile attitude towards Indian nationals living in the country. He was accountable for the safety of his men but he lost the opportunity of doing so. In effect, he has cold-feet.

The United Nations stands by him and his orders and decisions, we do not argue with that, except we can’t accept his calling Filipino soldiers as cowards as it is the very exact opposite of what he said. – Job S. Molina, Lucena City
