TESDA competition showcases trainees’ competence, world-class skills

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines -— Delegates from seven provinces of Central Luzon participated in the Regional Skills Competition launched by the Technical and Educational Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The four-day Regional Skills Competition was formally opened on Monday by TESDA regional director, Teodoro Gatchalian, held at the Robinson Starmills here.

The activity will showcase different skills on socio-cultural competition participated by delegates from Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Tarlac and Pampanga.

Gatchalian said that the competition shall vie for gold, silver and bronze medals in 23 qualification areas which include modern dance (group) , singing (solo and duet), battle of the bands and Mr. and Mrs. TVI-Central Luzon.

The skills competition showcased the world-class skills and competence of our technical-vocational trainees and industry workers in different competition areas across several industries which include auto land transport, information technology, hotel and tourism, construction, health and wellness and metals and engineering, Gatchalian told reporters.

He said the winners will represent Central Luzon in the Philippine National Skills Competition and possibly in the ASEAN and World Skills competition.

Gatchalian said that the competition is one of TESDA’s most effective social marketing and promotion strategies that elevate the Filipinos knowledge and awareness of technical vocational education as a viable career path.

He further said that the lead partners of TESDA in organizing the Regional Skills Competition include the Central Luzon Technical Vocational Institution Federation, Inc. or TVI-Central, local government units and the industries.

Gatchalian said that TESDA will continue its advocacy to showcase their level and expertise.

Secretary Joel Villanueva of TESDA will be the guest of honor and speaker during the awarding ceremony that will be held at Bren Z. Guiao Convention today.
