Jonvic to Roque: Show proof of pending asylum petition

MANILA, Philippines — Standing by his statement that fugitive Harry Roque’s application for asylum in Europe had been denied, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla has challenged the former presidential spokesman to present evidence to show otherwise.
Remulla said the allowed period of six months for Roque’s application has lapsed.
“I’m maintaining my statement that he has to prove that it hasn’t been denied. Timeline is six months; he’s way past that,” Remulla said.
On Tuesday, he said the government only needs a red notice from the International Criminal Police Organization to arrest Roque.
Roque branded Remulla’s claims as fake news.
“The burden of proof is with him,” Remulla said.
Roque should face the charges and present proof that would clear his name, according to Palace press officer Claire Castro.
Castro said influence, connections and the people should not be used to evade criminal charges.
