MANILA, Philippines —  Six in 10 Filipinos trust and were satisfied with the performance of the Philippine National Police (PNP), according to a survey of the OCTA Research group.

The poll, conducted from March 19 to 25, found that 63 percent of the respondents either “strongly” or “somewhat” trust the PNP.

Ten percent said they “somewhat” distrust the PNP while eight percent said they “strongly” distrust the police force. The remaining 19 percent were ambivalent.

In terms of performance, some 61 percent said they were either “very satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with the PNP.

Twenty percent were dissatisfied while 19 percent said they could not say if they were satisfied or not.

“Across major areas, Mindanao consistently records the highest trust and performance ratings, followed by the Visayas. In contrast, the National Capital Region posts the lowest trust and satisfaction, along with higher levels of ambivalence,” OCTA said.

The PNP’s latest trust and performance ratings dropped from 71 percent and 73 percent, respectively, in OCTA’s July 2025 survey.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. lauded the poll result, saying it “reflects the organization’s efforts in upholding the rule of law as well as maintaining peace and order in communities.” – Emmanuel Tupas
