2,994 held for violating ‘Safe Cities’ anti-crime drive

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The number of people caught violating the “Safer Cities” anti-crime campaign in Calabarzon has increased to 2,994 from 1,225.

The second day of the implementation of the policy has netted 1,769 people including minors who violated the curfew hours.

Police also held people caught drinking and smoking in public, men who were not wearing shirts and residents who used videoke beyond the allowed time.

The operation was conducted from 10 p.m. to midnight across Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.

Calabarzon police chief Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan said the campaign demonstrates the commitment of the police to maintaining peace and order in communities, addressing minor violations and preventing potential crime activities from happening.
