DILG probes VIP treatment for Revilla

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government has launched an investigation into allegations that former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. is getting special treatment at the Quezon City Jail.
Revilla is reportedly getting special perks such as staying in an air-conditioned room separated from the other inmates.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said based on the information he received, Revilla is staying in a regular non-airconditioned cell, but separate from his co-accused former Department of Public Works officials Brice Hernandez, Arjay Domasig and Juanito Mendoza.
Remulla said this is because of supposed personal animosities between Revilla and his co-respondents.
“They have to be separated just to keep things safe. Maybe that’s why (people) think there is special treatment,” Remulla said.
Revilla is facing graft and non-bailable malversation cases before the Sandiganbayan in connection with a ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan worth P92.8 million.
