MANILA, Philippines — Despite doubling the cash reward to P20 million for information leading to the capture of Charlie “Atong” Ang, the fugitive businessman continues to evade arrest.

According to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, police tracker teams have conducted 10 raids on Ang’s suspected hideouts, but the gambling tycoon was nowhere to be found.

“Negative lahat nung sites na pinuntahan namin,” Remulla said in an interview over dzBB yesterday.

The Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation have been looking for Ang since courts in Batangas and Laguna ordered his arrest in relation to the kidnapping and murder of sabungeros or cockfight aficionados.

Earlier reports said that Ang could have fled either to Cambodia or Thailand.

However, the Cambodian government denied that the businessman is in the Southeast Asian nation.

Remulla expressed confidence that authorities would eventually capture Ang, who is accused of killing over 100 sabungeros.

“The hunt for Ang continues. We will eventually find him,” he said.

While there is speculation that Ang is now abroad, Remulla said he believes that Ang is still in the Philippines.
